The Cohort Project

Our Mission:

The Cohort Project exists to assist the local church in its universal mission to equip the saints and advance the gospel, to the glory of God.

How We Seek To Accomplish This:

We will build relationships with local churches; specifically the pastors and other leaders of those churches.

We believe that it is next to impossible to truly help someone outside of cultivating a relationship built on the foundation of mutual trust. We believe it is only through relationships that tangible opportunities to effectively serve and assist local pastors and congregations are revealed.

Our primary aim is to assist the local church by coming alongside its leaders. Ministry can be a hostile, lonely environment that, without relief, leads to burnout. Recent studies claim that nearly 40% of pastors are currently considering leaving the ministry. It is our desire to step into the lives of pastors/shepherds/elders, providing much-needed support so that they and their church bodies can continue to do faithful ministry.

We desire to offer this free of charge to those churches we partner with, by raising the necessary funds through private donors and other churches who believe in this mission.

Our supporters will receive monthly updates and will be asked to pray specifically for the churches and leaders that we are partnering with.

Our Support Framework:

Resources

  • General resources, such as articles, podcasts and curriculum development.

  • Pulpit supply for sabbatical, vacation, or simply a break from preaching.

  • Worship support, to include leading worship, offering volunteer relief, and providing instrument or technical training.

Community and Counsel

Unfortunately, ministry can often feel isolated and lonely. Through meetings, retreats, and other fellowship events with our partnering pastors, we hope to build camaraderie and a stronger network of co-laborers in the gospel, that helps encourage and sustain their pursuit of God-glorifying ministry (Philippians 1:3-5).

Celebration

It is our desire to help leaders sustain a sense of eager joy in their calling (1 Peter 5:2). Whether it’s visible gospel fruit in the life of a congregation, or just a good week of study, we want to help our ministry partners rejoice in the little and big ministry wins that God orchestrates.

Sound Doctrine

The most fundamental responsibility of the pastor/elder/shepherd is his ability to give instruction in sound doctrine and, when necessary, correct or rebuke those who contradict it (Titus 1:9). To this end, it is our desire to ensure biblical doctrinal alignment and unity in truth through intentional study and conversation together with our partnering leaders.

Our Prayer For The Future:

That this project might be used by God to encourage and strengthen as many churches and ministries as possible.

That out of these efforts a network of pastors and leaders emerges, that can build up one another and share in each others’ ministry journeys.

That we all might see the kingdom of God advance through healthy, gospel centered, Christ exalting, local churches, for the glory of God.
